extract molars? She's 11!
october 10 2007
Went with the twins to the dentist.
They were suppost to get braces.
Yea...you're reading it right... things didn't go as expected... at all.
First I didn't even call her our name.
One of the girls did.
I asked her if she called in any way I should have heard it. She said "no".
Well, why call then if you won't be heard???
Then it turned out she wasn't an assistent, but the dentist herself.
The first girl sat down and was ready to open her mouth.
None of it all!
We got the models on the table and then she said that she wanted to extract two molars.
HUH???
She wanted to extract 2 molars so she could pull the front teeth backwards.
The young lady in question is 11 years old, nearly got a heart attack hearing she needed two molars extracted.
Her front teeth are standing straight, bit the upper jaw is about half a cm larger than the under jaw.
No real problem to us.
So I made clear I wouldn't agree with extracting healthy teeth.
It's very strange that for ten years or more dentists are trying to keep a breaking molar in my mouth, whereas I would love it to get out and disappear forever.
And now they want a healthy mouth destroyed without any guarantee that a brace can pull everything in place and it will stay that way all her life.
So I told the dentistI couldn't agree, and the young girl better spend her time in front of the mirror deciding if she liked her face or not.
I know she likes herself, so I'm not taking too great risks here.
She doesn't have problems chewing and eating, so she doesn't need correcting of major problems.
I'm still amazed and are questioning myself why the woman didn't think of an inner fixature to keep the teeth in place.
