Peeling and slicing carrots
january 7 2009

In the winter the carrots are not only very large, but they also have a thick skin.
Slicing is for those with muscles.
Not anymore!
I put the large winter-carrots in the microwave, but heating them in another way works perfect too.
When they've softened, but are not too soft, I put them aside to cool down.
No way I want to exchange muscle pain into burned fingers.
So ofter colling down I take my knife and make an incision in the length.
Usually that's enough to enable me to peel the carrot sidewards without any problems.
Slicing is a joy.
I almost look like one of those TV cooks, who slice vegetables into perfect, tiny squares or slices without the slightest problem.
Maybe it takes a bit more time, but it's so much easier.
It works for me. I'm sure it works for you too.
