It's World Heart Day.

According to the World Health Organisation cardiovascular diseases kill 17.5 million lives a year.
We now know that many people die from a heart attack or stroke without any previous signal. Which seems to be in strange opposition to the many warning signals that are listed for heartproblems.
There are indeed people who fit the picture and report chestpains and all the wellknown symptoms, but it has been known for a long time that women don't follow these expectations.

So it's more important to try to prevent any problems.
Risk factors are: raised blood pressure, cholesterol, homocysteine and glucose levels, smoking, inadequate intake of fruit and vegetables, overweight, obesity and physical inactivity.

But what is more important: you can find information, newsletters and a lot more at their site and at the site of your local heart organization.

Be aware that fatal heart disease slips into your body and takes it over without you realising it.
One of my friends got a heart attack last year and she was rushed to hospital more dead than alive. She's walking now again, just a shadow of her old self, and she wants to warn everyone that prevention is far more important than recognition.
