my computer went black

may 11 2008

I can't believe it: my computer went black.

Twice.

I hope it's the temperature. It's nearly 26 degrees celcius here.
I'm now using a laptop from a friend.
Nice for a little while.

But I was bussy making a graphic for mothersday. Ca't do it with this one.

Well, mothersday is full of surprises.

The children made me breakfast, coffee and peperkoek, and then wanted me to sit on the couch and wait.

I received some very nice presents:
earrings and a pendant...very red
a short blue scarf
a little bureau clock
a little aqua towel
a plastic rose
and ofcourse the lovely poems, spiced up with the funny proof of dyslexia, the drawn hearts and some other sweet DIY.

And I treated myself with a nice plan for my dollshouse 1:12 items.

Am I strange to think that whenever I want to do something for myself, something else goes completely wrong?
I can't do without my computer. It keeps me sane.

Maybe G from B is able to send me what I earned two months ago?
It helps me to find a new computer screen.

Well, I wish everyone a very happy mothersday.

It's summer here, so I maybe I can do something in the garden before we're back to winter or thrown into fall.LOL!

Enjoy Mothersday!!!

Chatter on thursday

may 9 2008

Nature skipped the rest of spring and brought us a summer-week.
I really had to work in the garden this afternoon. Everything is growing so fast!
The brambles tried to overgrow the rest, so I had to take action.

While 3 loads of laundry dried, I cleaned the floors inside.
Behind my back one of the girls almost fell while she tried to sneak in with the mothersday present.

The girls are spending their vacation very well, LOL!
I'm sure they'll surprise me with home-made presents.

I earned some money last month and thought it would be nice to take them to something special.
But it still hasn't arrived on my paypal... what a disappointment!

We had a nice dinner together.
Tomorrow is the last schoolday for one of the boys. Just a couple of days and then the final exams start.

While I was making plans for tomorrow with the oldest - he needs new glasses - the phone rang.

While I said "hallo", the filling from one of the molars fell out.
Grrr!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I have to go to the dentist tomorrow morning...
I hope he's got a bit of time to fix the molar.

Like many people I don't like to go to the dentist, but I don't feel as bad with this dentist than with the ones before.
This one is very nice and caring, and he loves his job.

Well, I hope I can go to the shopping centre after the visit to the dentist, to find my son new glasses.
Keep your fingers crossed I won't look like a droopy drunk old lady. LOL!!

laundry outside

april 21 2008

I'm not used to clothes on the line in the garden anymore.

Today was the first day with a good temperature and a lot of wind, so I got all the laundry out and on the lines.

Most of it was almost dry when I took it inside again.
So it was well worth the effort.

Just one blac, rather thick, cardigan with a cap wasn't dry at all and I left it on the line.

The started cooking.

When looking outside I thought there was someone in the garden...

NOT! LOL!

lazy saturday

april 5 2008

Finally, finally, finally.... I had a lazy saturday!!!

I didn't sleep in.... the kids were too bussy having fun, but I listened to the radio, untill a political program started.
Not today!

A short shower... have to keep an eye on the kids, a dive in my clothes ... have to be presentable, and I went downstairs, made some coffee and took a slice of peperkoek (I'll look up the recipe), and nested myself on the couch.
I even had ten minutes before the phone rang.
What a disturbance!

A friend called, asking if I was really sure I didn't want to come with her to a beauty salon. No way!
She's 10 years older than I and has patches of discoloration and hyperpigmentation. Every once in a while she has a treatment of skin lightening.
Well, as my skin doesn't see much sun, it doesn't lightening, so I told her to show herself of this week and enjoy herself.

With a new cup of coffee I took a look at the paper.
It has been ages ago I read the paper at the same day it reached our house.

Ofcourse the complete amount of children filled the house, ofcourse they had their arguments, ofcourse dad pushed loads of groceries in the kitchen, and ofcourse the laundry machine turned and turned and turned.

But the weather was so gray, and the sound of hail and rain kept on going, that all sounds seemed to be confined to other lifes.

After lunch a patch of sun invited the girls to visit friends, one of my sons went with his dad to town, another one went to work, one fell asleep, and I didn't care if I has them all accounted for.

I watched a movie, designed a site for a friend, and took the time to bagpipe and sing a bit.

What a life!
Some people have days like these all the time and don't value them.
Well, I do!!

So I decided not to cook and fill them all with frites and some fresh vegetables someone else has to clean and slice.

What a day!!

wrong day

march 6 2008

I don't know why, but today I feeling like it's already friday.

I even did those little chores I always do before the weekend, and I ordered the girls around during lunchtime like they have to go to the choir this afternoon.

Maybe the noise in the neighbouring house is creating a brainleak (ofcourse only when one assumes I have brains).

Well, as I have done those chores I will have time to paint the room tomorrow.
I hope it works out... I really hope I have the chance.

An empty house

february 28 2008

This afternoon the neighbour came to say goodbye.

We were all sad to see her go.

She was kind and caring, and she didn't feel bothered by the children at all.

Often she asked the girls to come with her on a daytrip, and they all enjoyed themselves very much.

She's moved out of town, but not out of our hearts.

Already she's planning a trip with the girls, so we sure won't loose contact.

Now it's waiting for new neighbours... I hope they're as good as she.

Now the house is completely empty, and it feels strange to know there's no one there waking up next morning.
And it feels cold too.

Good morning!

februari 20 2008

Today I'm a bit tense.

If all goes well, and people do what they need to do, we'll get a message from the new school of my autistic son.
The psychologist needs to decide in which auti-class he'll have to go and when.

Right now he says that he's looking forward to going to school again, but ofcourse I'm prepared for yet another early morning round of motivating.

Right now I'm craving for a day with no one at home.
Just doing things that need time and/or space, like painting doors, tidying the attick and such.
Or walking around with a facemask. LOL!

The girls have a morning off, today.
So we're taking it easy.

Wish I had some work online, I just need a bit more to order my smallpipes.
Those are a smaller kind of bagpipes than the highland bagpipes.

Have a great day!

lazy sunday

february 17 2008

Last night it was very cold here.
The house hasn't take in the warmth of the heating, I guess, because outisde it was about -8, but it seemed to be much colder.

Or maybe the heating needs to be filled again. When I'm upstairs I need to have a look at the waterlevel.

I'm so very tired that I didn't do much up til now.
Just some laundry, surfing around a bit without thinking. Just looking at some art and such.

The girls are playing outside.
There's such a bright sun today. Maybe it's good I'm sitting here, resting my aching leg, instead of walking around.
The light is so clear that ones sees every little spot on the walls and ceiling.
I need to paint some of the walls, I want new lamps, and I want to rearrange some furniture.

Well, that needs to wait untill my leg can deal with climbing ladders and standing long.

In the meantime I'll watch the progress in the International Space Centre.

Have a great sunday yourself!!

the man at the door

january 11 2008

When the bell rang I expected the person of the bureau of statistics.
I got a letter last week, informing me my name was drawn, meaning I'm part of a sample.
I will be subjected to an enormous amount of questions about safety, politics, health, education and everything else that is put in the yearreview of the national bureau of statistics.

To be honest, I expected a young man, not a mature guy.
Not a distinguished gentleman with smiling eyes, perfect language and a respectfull attitude.

Oh my!!!

We made an appointment for tomorrow morning at 11, and...oh dear... I'm looking forward to it.

He's just the perfect guy to make a rather boring job into an enjoyable experience.

So the coffee is ready.......

Bye bye christmastime

january 7 2008

The christmasseason is over.

I've emptied the tree, put most christmasdecorations aside.
Tomorrow it's all going to the attick.

Already the room looks empty.

The girls enjoyed their first day to school, the boys their last day at home.

I hope I can enjoy tomorrow, when it's silent here, and I don't have someone standing behind me and scare the hell out of me when I turn. LOL!

Today I woke up with a migraine.
Hmmm, I still have the flu, so I can do without it.

I hate to feel ill and to be pitied, so I did my things around the house and then sat down changing the look of the site.
I just needed something different.

just chattering

january 2 2008

The first workingday of a new year.

I heard quite some cars leaving the street this morning and it made me feel at home in this year.
Isn't it strange what normal sounds can do?

I'm still ill, so I stayed in bed and fell asleep again.

I thought I'd missed my oldest leaving to bring his stuff back to the trainingshouse, but he was still at home.
He planned to go early in the morning!

Looking back his stay at home wasn't as bad as expected, although we didn't have much space to move around.
Part of the time he went to friends, and part of the time he was behind a computer upstairs, trying to fix things.

I still have an iframe bugging pages, so I keep running all sorts of scanners.
If someone can hgelp me out, please let me know.

The url that is supposed to be launched in the frame is blocked by norton, but the frame itself keeps projecting itself.

I'm glad we had some sun today.
It really makes it feel that we're moving towards spring.

Which thought is nuts, because we've had the worst cold weather in january and february in the past.
Saw some nice images on TV about the winter of 1974. Brrrr....

Well, whatever happens, the days are getting longer.
Today it was past 4 that we could close the curtains and put the lights on.
Two weeks back it was at 3.

It'll be a cold night this night.
We'll see.

new layout

December 27 2007

I'm happy with the new layout.

The double sidebar enables me to keep the things that are bound to me and the site apart from the items that are linked to other sites and issues.

I've seen quite some people struggle with updating their sites with a new layout.
I had the same problem.
Untill I saved all the information from the widgets and deleted them all.

Then I uploaded the layout without problems, adjusted it and added the widgets again.

If it was up to me I would update the look each week, but it's too bussy here at the moment to do so.

I hope you like it.
Otherwise just wait untill after the new year.

sunday for christmas

december 23 2007

The snow has disappeared.

It's kind of sad again to look outside, so we closed the curtains early and put the lights on.

The neighbour came with items from the christmasgiftbox she doesn't use.
It's so nice.

These are the little extra's for christmas we all appreciate so much.

I have the idea that the new meds for my autistic son are working.
Maybe he reacts different because he doesn't need to go to school tomorrow, I don't know.
But up till now he hasn't been moaning as much as other sundays.

I even relaxed a bit in front of the TV, watching a travelling program about Croatia.
What a beautiful country!!

And...how is your sunday?

christmas and cats

december 20 2007

The last days I've taken time to decorate the house for christmas.

That means I spend more time in the attick than downstairs, opening boxes and finding part of my history.

Because I don't have much time it's a mess there at the moment, which makes it more fun to look around.

OK, I know I have to sort things out, and while looking I do so.

It's a pity children grow so fast that toys have to leave the house.
For each child I have a large box in which I save some toys, drawings and little things.
The rest is together in boxes and needs to be sorted out before I'm leaving for the old people's home.

Today I found a few cats for the collection of my autistic son.

They were given to me by a friend for the second hand market at the school of the girls.
The school decided to skip the market, and the cats landed in the box.

Now I have a happy face, and some nice white cats, staring all day with a blanc look into the room.

Wish they would get alive at christmasevening.

winter

december 19 2007

It's winter now.
The temperatures have lowered, and all the smells and colours of fall are gone.

I start to like the fresh cold air, but when I wake up in the morning with a head full of cotton wool, like I'm getting ill and feverish, I long for spring.

Getting the laundry dry isn't a problem.
The heating does all the work.

Most of the stiff I hang upstairs, but the large items, like denim jeans, get the finishing touch over the heating in the hallway.
The mailbox (which is in the door here) provides enough draft to keep the air dry.

I can't believe it's almost christmas.

The twins are ill

november 28 2007

One of the girls has been ill since sunday.
Lots of coughing and coughing.

She looks even more tiny than she ever did before.

She loves to curl up in bed and doze off with a bit of music.

Ofcourse....when one is ill, the others will follow in a large family.

So noe her sister doesn't feel well.

She's got a fever and is coughing once in a while.

I guess we're turning into a little hospital here again

I'm mad at Google

november 22 2007

So google "outranked" my blog.

To be honest: it makes me sick.

Just because I try to earn some money they cut my well earned rank 3 into a complete zero.

Who the hell they think they are?

Now I won't get enough opportunities to blog for a little amount of dollars.
Well, hej... I know that working for an advertising company would make me earn a lot more, but blogging for a bit of money can be done in my own time, without all the additional features of a full blown job.

There's no need to communicate with collegues, fill in time tables, ask for sick leave and so on and so on.
I just sit down between putting the potatoes on the fire and pouring off the water and write an entry.

I blog for what's needed in our family, and what can't be paid from the normal income.

This month I'm blogging because the prizes of the groceries have gone up about 50%.
It's unbelievable!!

And now Google prevents me to write and earn some money.

I don't know why they have taken such an interest in sponsored blogs and why they boycot us.

Wish someone would sue them for taking away part of our income.

In the mail

november 21 2007

I can't believe how much brochures and other advertisingpaperwork has been in the mail this week.

Ofcourse it doesn't get the attention it should get.
But we already have a couch, so there's no need to read all those booklets to gain an impression of the most priceworthy stuff.

I wonder how many people really take an interest in leaflets about stuff that is hardly used and certainly won't be choosen as a giftitem.

Well, the whole pile now lies resting in a box, waiting for the recyclingcar, which will come the first monday of the month.

The neighbourhoodcommittee gathers all the old paperwork, and sells it to the recyclingfirm nearby.

That'll give them enough money to buy some nice sinterklaas presents for the little kids in the neighbourhood.

chattering

november 19 2007

After all the turmoil in the morning, matters settled when everyone found something to do.
Ofcourse the father of the kids kept doing difficult.

He's fighting to accept his own autism spectrum disorder.
At days like birthdays it becomes very clear he can't cope when his own invented dayplan is interrupted.

So I swallowed a lot of comments and then tried to ignore him.

The visitors showed up at a prefect time.
The girls enjoyed the visit and enjoyed the presents.

They got a lot of beads and other girly things, like a friend's book, a diary, and a barbie. (Well, the fake one.)
I gave them a dollshouse kit I bought ages ago. I caught it with the wrong price and couldn't leave it in the shop. LOL!

It's 1:24, so it's little.
That means special furniture.

I've also a 1:12 waiting.

I love dollshouses.

Do you?

agenda

november 8 2007

Yesterday I had to book so many appointments that next week suddenly became one of the bussiest days of the year.

2 doctor's appointments for the kids
3 parents evenings (2 at the same time)
and a lot more.

I'm going to get my red pen and scratch out a few appointments otherwise I won't be able to prepare for dinner.

Some appointments weren't meant to be anyway.
I don't like to go somewhere just before dinner, and come home well after dinnertime. Ha. And leaving the kids alone isn't an option at all.

Many people don't understand, because they have a car and an appointment of half an hour is just an hour in total.

Here it means at least 1 hour to and 1 and a half back.
Travelling back at a time the schools are supposed to be closed means less chance to reach our part of town because less busses are available.

Well, we'll see what next week brings.
